Trouble on The Avenue

Hi Everyone

I'm not sure what is happening with blogspot, but apart from being able to get into this site to post, I cannot bring up The Avenue on the net to view. If this note does appear, could someone just email and let me know that visitors can at least view the site. thanks.

... a cooler day on The Avenue

Winter is well and truly on it's way. I'd better get knitting!

I know I promised a photo of the dyed yarn for the lace cardi - it will be posted, but I'm not knitting the lace cardi with the new yarn. I knitted about half way through the lace pattern - it just wasn't working. The colour is too dark for the pattern. You know when something just doesn't look right. This is one of those times. I'll post a photo of the yarn - it's pretty, but just not for this project. I think it may suit a short sleeved, bolero type style for a little girl. That will be way down the line, perhaps in July.

I'm using the same colour yarn for a larger size garment. I'll post a photo of my progess at the same time as the dyed yarn is posted, probably tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, my Noro yarns sit patiently waiting for me. Kureyon 149 for Butterfly from the Noro Knits, Jane Ellison book, Kochoran 31 for Wildfell from the Simply Noro, Jane Ellison once again, and Silk Garden 88 for the Scoop Neck Cardigan from the Noro Collection by Debbie Bliss. Each project tempts me every day. Whenever I walk past I pick up a yarn and give it a hug... just gorgeous, but I've a work deadline to meet by June 20 and cannot stop to play. Not too long to go now and they will have my undivided attention! There will be plenty of photos.

A friend has almost completed Eloise in Blossom 5, another from the Noro Knits, Jane Ellison book. It's looking absolutely fabulous and will really suit her. I'll see if I can get a photo when she's done and put it on the blog. Looking forward to her next project. I have a feeling it's going to be another Noro knit. They are addictive!

I've gotta go get knitting on this pink cadi ... catch you tomorrow night. xx

PS: Hello Oregon .. thinking of you.

saturday along The Avenue

The next lot of pink yarn has been dyed and I've begun the lace pattern for the next size in the little pink cardi. The longest part in getting everything together is the drying of the wool in this cooler weather. But it's done and I was able to start the knitting tonight. I've used the Addi Turbos again, as I seem to fly through the rows with these beauties. Will do a few more rows and take a photo in the daylight and post tomorrow.

Other than that, the day has been pretty quiet. We had dinner with friends tonight, CJ and JA. JA likes to cook and was in a soup brewing mood today. I don't even know what it was called, but was delicious. JA has a few of Jamie Oliver cook books and I'm sure thinks he a wow of a cook too (or should that be 'chef'!). CJ made a yummy lasagne with a salad on the side. Great catching up with people over the weekend.

Might take a trip up the north coast Sunday and visit a favourite beach. I love the beaches in winter, the waves thundering onto the sand, not too many people around, usually only the board surfers. It's cold and a good reason to wrap up in the winter woolies you've had put away all summer. Then down to the bay for a coffee and chat before heading home to finish off the weekend.

Grevillia the rosellas fed on Posted by Hello

a walk on the wild side of The Avenue

rosella Posted by Hello

I wake up to this picture most mornings. The rosellas lazily feeding on the Grevillia hedge we have surrounding our home. They are noisy, cheeky bids, but harmless. Just beautiful to watch. We planted the Grevillia around the boundary of our home to give us privacy and to attract the native birds, but never expected the gorgeous wildlife that now considers our place their home also.

just one more ...

the beginning of a new day

Honestly Mum, I do know how to use it. Posted by Hello

Knitting content - at last!

Just recently finished this little pink cardigan. It has a beautiful pink button to hold it together at the front. Unfortunately the button is not visible in this photo, but believe me it's there. It looks so cute on the tiny model, but I think she could do with the next size up. I'll get onto that right away. I think I'll dye some yarn for the next one. Wouldn't want two cardis the same colour now would we!

... day two

The Avenue is now working on getting some photos posted. Stand by, it shouldn't take too long!

Knitting on the Avenue ...

It's taken me ages to get myself together to actually make the decision and set up a blog. Never enough time, etc, etc. I read and enjoy so many, now want to share in the fun with the rest of the world.

It will probably take me ages to work out how everything works and get photos loaded, but I'm here and will just enjoy my own company for a while!

I'm a knitter and hoarder of yarns, or should I just say, I have a healthy stash.

I've recently purchased three lots of Noro Yarns and hoping to get them all knitted before the end of our very short winter here in Australia.

Lots more to tell, but this will do for a very short first post.
