Photos next week!

It's been a busy week with preparations for a show I will be attending this week, beginning Tuesday. Will take photos and probably have lots to tell, but best of all, once this week is done, I'll have time to knit, serious knitting. Like, my Noro Butterfly that has been started but only reached line 10. I've had so many late nights I feel like a zombie, I know you don't want a photo of that!

A couple more hours tonight and most of tomorrow will see all done ready for Tuesday setup. The show finishes Sunday and I'm taking some time out.

I ordered a couple of Rebecca magazines on ebay - #s 27 and 29. 27 has the Apricot Jacket that everyone but me has knitted. I purchased some Rowan wool/cotton and will knit it first for my daughter (CJ) then myself. She is tiny so will try out the pattern everyone seems to have problems with and sort it out before beginning mine. I've also purchased a copy of Rowan 37 to knit Butterfly for CJ as I have some Kid Silk Haze and she'll look gorgeous in the vest. I've also purchased a full set of the Rown shade cards, so I'll know what the colours are when ordering over the net. They should arrive this week.

I'd like to get as much knitting in while the weather is cool and begin my summer knitting just before Christmas.

See you in a week.

Rushing.. rushing.. rushing...

It's been a while since I've posted, busy finishing projects to meet a June 22nd deadline. Almost there, but no time for the blog.

July should see regulars postings and photos of life on The Avenue. Stayed tuned for winter project progress on the Noro knits plus lots of other goodies.

I've been very bad in that I've had time to gather new stash, and yes, I do have specific knits in mind for each purchase. The only problem being, I may not live long enough to knit everything! Not that there is anything wrong - the knitting list just gets longer and longer, day by day. There are now two coats to knit, the Noro Wildfell and I've decided I like the Jo Sharp Box Coat. I've had some JS yarn for years and not really known what to do with it, but once I saw the Box Coat, I knew the yarn would look terrific, especially worn with jeans during winter. If we ever get a winter here is Oz. It's been so mild.

Catch up soon ....

Shanghai Surprise Evening Posted by Hello

Shanghai Surprise

By 1930, Shanghai was a bustling cosmopolitan city ... and what a surprise it was! I thought I was going to a soiree de gala evening and discovered at the last minute that evening wasn't until December. 500 people, a lot I've met at other events during the year, so was good to sit at a table with people I'd seen but never had the opportunity to meet before. The evening was good in that there were not a lot of speeches (the french events are always well planned and never boring), a band and singer who were up to the minute in their approach to song choices, dancing and a show performed by a chinese group with dancing dogs (that look like the large dragons you usually see) and a huge drum performance. I'm truly showing my ignorance here with the chinese culture as I'm sure this performance has a special meaning, but even the asian people at our table could not tell me the story. Any which way, it was a great evening. It was held down by the waterfront on sydney harbour. We arrived early so we could walk around the shoreline before the event began. It's so beautiful at night. There are a huge amount of restaurants and the buzz of the city on a friday night is just great.

Here in Australia we are gearing up again for Australian Idol. Last night, along a large section of the Sydney waterfront there were barricades, which for a time confused us, as people were camping out, some even had small tents. We walked a little further and discovered it was the line up for Australian Idol. Good luck to them. The shear excitement of it all would supply enough adrenalin to get any one of the hopefuls through the night.

Saturday we decided to head into the city again, The Rocks this time. We love the waterfront, the cruisers, Opera House, people everywhere, so much to do, we just wandered around, stopped off at the Pancake Parlour for a yummy treat and then walked some more. Had to justify consuming such a feast somehow. I don't feel guilty at all! Stopped in at the Billich gallery, we love his work. Wandered through The Rocks Market too. Not as busy as we thought it would be, but everyone could have been down at Darling Harbour auditioning for Idol!

I don't have to tell you, there is no dinner tonight, so thought I'd use the time to blog a little about Sydney, the most beautiful and best city in the world.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Pretty in pink...

Same lace pattern in larger size using 8ply cream. The pink and cream yarn is Zara and it's gorgeous to knit with. Posted by Hello

I don't mind this pattern in cream, but I think the pink is much prettier. It was becoming too much to knit another pink garment - I just had to have a change of colour. I've another couple to do in larger sizes, so hoping I can find two more colours in the Zara that will suit this pattern. I do prefer the softer colours in lace.

... very quiet

Chloe relaxing on a cool winter night. Posted by Hello

I thought it time kitty joined the Blog.

I've completed the little pink lacy cardigan, actually finished it last week. I'm now working on the next size in cream and about 20 rows from the armhole shaping.

Not a lot of news. Still busy workwise, so no Noro knits on the needles yet. The weather is quite cool now - could do with a few extra woollies. All in good time.
