Noro Silk Garden #43
Noro Jacket completed
Little Jacket for 18 month oldPattern : own designNoro Silk Garden #43Quantity : 6 ballsIt probably took me about three weeks to get this jacket completed. The sleeves were a little tricky in that the last couple of balls of the SG did not match up too well and there was a good deal of cut and paste involved. Certainly an easy, easy knit this yarn and I'm happy with the end result. The colour is brighter than the photo.. just couldn't wait for daylight, just had to shoot it late at night and get something finished on the blog! Plus it's warming up here in Sydney and wanted the little tot to get some wear from the jacket before she either grew out of it or it became too warm to wear it.I've finished it off with a couple of rosettes as it was looking very plain and they serve a double purpose. The lower one hides a large press studd that keep the garment together. I've embroidered over the back of the studs on the inside of the jacket, so as not to be noticed if the garment is worn undone. The Not Noro York may be frogged. I'm not completely happy with the striping of the yarn and as it is for DH, I may relook at another stitch pattern in place of the 2x2 rib I'm presently knitting. In other knitting related news, I've ordered a Kim Hargreaves kit, Harmony in Puff, from her first collection, Out Of The Shadows. Designed in Rowan Summer Tweed, I think the weight will be perfect for pre-summer and pre-winter wearing. That should arrive next week and I'm planning on starting it straight away.A friend has also ordered a kit from the same collection - Joy designed in Rowan Denim Ecru.Love the internet .... the only way to shop the world from the comfort of your own home!
Earthly Treasures
Kim Hargreaves has released yet another collection of knits. They are gorgeous. http://www.kimhargreaves.co.uk/acatalog/Earthly_Treasures.htmlWhy oh why Rowan is not using this wonderful talent is beyond me and many other knitters as well. Go google and read some knitting blogs. Perhaps this is a better way for KH to get her own designs out onto the market without restrictions. I know I'll be ordering some of these kits.I particularly like Trinket in Kid Silk Haze and I'm not a scarf person, but will be purchasing this kit for next winter. Looking at the stitch used, it will be an easy knit and I'll certainly be supporting her to keep this fabulous designer producing garments with style, flair and wearability. I've read quite a few blogs where people have been saying it's a shame the designs are only available as kits and not single patterns. I can see Kim's point in combining pattern and yarn for the desired end result and too, she has to make a living and selling a single pattern is not going to achieve this.As for Rowan 38 ... what a disappointment. I could go on and on about this issue, but what's the point. Perhaps (and fingers crossed!) Rowan 39 will be fabulous.Martin Storey is another great designer and hopefully we will still be able to enjoy his designs in future issues of Rowan and Jaeger. I've just purchased a few Jaeger books and a bundle of Trinity and will be throwing that together over the next few month.I've also just completed a small jacket in Noro for the 18month old and will post pictures as soon as I can get the model to stand still!!!
Just another day ....
Bloggers, I have been remiss in not keeping up appearances! Just a busy time of year for me, with a number of business commitments that have kept me away from this blog, and a lot of others that I read too.But I am back, working on Not Noro and a couple of other little projects as well - a little variety never hurt anyone, especially needed when knitting. Of course I've had time to add to my stash! Photos will follow shortly, but not in this post. They are all tucked secretly away so as not to upset too many people in the household.Catch up soon....
