CLAPOTIS

The infamous Clapotis - another scarf for this non-scarf knitting/wearing person who has now completed 3.5 scarves and all before the end of 2005 (there's another Trinket being worked on - will it never end!!!).

Have I finally matured to the point where I am able to actually appreciate the wearing of the simply scarf? Obviously. I'm already digging in my stash for some Noro for another ... dare I say it ... Clapotis for myself!

This was such a simple knit and quick - I cannot remember the last time I knitted something so quickly. Addictive - extremely. I just couldn't put it down.

The details
Kate Gilbert's Clapotis
Yarn : Brooks Farm Classy Duet
Less than 1.5 skeins
Fibre Content : 55% kid mohair / 45% fine wool
Needles : Addi Turbo 5mm
Started : December 24
Completed : December 27
Hours recorded : 28

This is a gorgeous yarn to work with. Just like butter, if one can imagine knitting with butter. The stitches just flew off the needles and I have yarn left over - 75g.

I went halves with a friend who is knitting the same - we ordered 3 skeins between us. The only point I would make to anyone wanting to use this yarn is that a good portion of it is mohair and it does tend to grab the stitches when running them to complete the Clapotis. It's not an arduous task, but one that will take a little patience. I'd use the yarn again for the same pattern as the result is fabulous.

I cannot wait for winter in Oz and, thank you Kate for such a simple, stylish scarf/warp!

The Sweetest gift ...

I received the sweetest gift in the mail today - totally unexpected, which makes it even sweeter. Donna http://www.randomknits.net/, another cyber knitter sent this and all I can say is -Thank You. A beautifully hand sewn and beaded bag that I will surely keep my circulars in. A gorgeous candle and yummy chocolates (I'll have to hide them from the 2 year old who is a chocolate monster), a lovely Christmas card, all wrapped up in paper with her signature all over .... polar bears. Thank you so much for thinking of me, I feel very, very special.

Pop on over to Donna's site and take a look at all the knitting this girl does. Where does she get the time! Love the Mary Ann you've just completed.

Pink Trinket

Done and dusted, as they say. The colour was hard to photograph and the beads do not show up at all, but they are surely there. She has one more night in Oz then off to the UK, where I believe it is freezing today.

An easy, easy knit, and although the style may be a little frilly for some, coupled with the length, it works.

Now to wind the skeined yarn for Lizzy into balls ready to begin Monday. Tomorrow is last minute xmas shopping, giving me the week to work on Lizzy and a couple of other knits that have been patiently waiting for my return.

Just a little more yarn ...

Purchased this gorgeous yarn, Merino and Lambswool, from eBay recently. So, so soft! I've added it to my Knit List (everyone has one... right?!!!) to become Lizzy from the Naturally Noro, Jane Ellison book and think I will make it my next project....eh,, that's along with Clapotis as well. The Brooks Farm yarn should be arriving any day now.

I've just about completed the second Trinket, just adding the beads on the last ruffle. It's a little late leaving Oz, but I know it will be made very welcome once it reaches its destination. Fingers crossed the post will be as kind as it has been in the past and only take 5 days for delivery.

Not a lot of news to post ... just the same as everyone else, running around organising myself for Christmas.

Looking forward to Christmas Day with the family. We've bought the 2 year old a few extra toys, but will not bore you with details. No doubt will snap actions shots on the day and will post then.

Happy holidays everyone ... enjoy.

Two of my favourite things ...

Obligatory kitty picture. My ever loving faithfull companion Chloe. She's about 6 years old, loves drinking from the bathroom basin tap - that's where she is sitting now, patiently waiting for me to turn it on, and of course I obliged as soon as the photo was taken.

The other favourite I do love in my home is fresh flowers. To me, Hydrangers always look beautiful, more so when they have come from your own garden. Colours range from blue to white tinged with pink, as these are. So delicate. I'm planning a new front garden where I will pull out most of what is presently there, apart from the Grevillea trees, pave a little more of the front area and plant these beautiful Hydrangers. I believe a change is as good as a holiday, so looking forward to doing this over the Christmas break - of course I'll be knitting too!

Chugga chugga beep beep big red car ...

2 year old in big red car and birthday party Sunday. She turned 2 on Wednesday. All her little friends will join her for celebrations tomorrow. 9 of them ranging from 4 month to 7 years. Just look at that! So relaxed, not a worry in the world... just as it should be for little people. Note all the fruit in the back of the car - there's a little boot, so everything went in there. Fruit juice, sandwiches, you name it.It was carried around all day.

We spent a good part of today (Saturday) renovating our holiday house. As you can see we are at the painting stage in most rooms, with only the downstairs bathroom and laundry left to do. There is also the outside landscaping, but that will have to wait until last.

As you can see, Trinket came along for the ride. She didn't do much, just layed around looking pretty, but I guess that's all a girl as pretty as Trinket needs to do. It's a 1.5 hour drive from home, so am able to get an hour knitting in the car.

Will knit furiously on her tonight as I need to get her in the mail next week. Will I make it?
