Family Ties ...

I've not posted for a few day and will probably not post anything knitterly (is there such a word? There is now!) for a few weeks.

Daughter has recently given birth to twin boys and we are going to be tied up ohhhing and ahhhing for some time.

They are keeping the names a closely guarded secret, so will not post here, but the hospital has named them ... Bi and Bii. Sound familiar!!!

We were told they were not going to be identical twins and they are not. So entirely different in every way. I've asked the usual question, "are you sure they are yours?". Husband replied he has proof as he took photos of the birth and was with them the entire time. Okay, not going there!

Catch up soon...

I think I may have a COD...

COMPULSIVE OBSESSIVE DISORDER...

or in other words ...

I buy lots of yarn!

A friend and I (who I might add is one skein off the above title - you know who you are!!) love our knitting. We sometimes even knit the same pattern in the same colour (as in the Clapotis)!

I know, it's sad, very, very sad, but lots of fun too - and that's what knitting is all about. Having something special in your wardrobe that you cannot buy, that you have actually made, is quite an accomplishment when you think about it.

Where is this leading you ask ... to an ebay site that has recently listed some Debbie Bliss and Noro yarns at a good price. Now don't get too excited, there is not a lot of either yarns, but enough of the DB to knit children's garments.

My behaviour has been excellent in this instance in that I have not purchased one item. Not one - but have decided to share the site with everyone who visits here.

The site owner I know has worked (and may still do) for Jo Sharp, and the site always seems to have the end of season, discontinued, etc, yarns from the Jo Sharp range, and usually at a very good price. These particular yarns are not that cheap, but for people who do not purchase from overseas, are a very good buy.

The site is worth keeping in your ebay favourites and popping back to now and again to see what is available. The eBay Seller name is cam3au

If you decide to dabble on the above ebay site, drop back and let us know what you've bought and what you will knit with your yarns.

... 'till then .... kniton!

I've pinched this button from Sharon over at http://shazknit.blogspot.com I'm not participating either Sharon, so your button is a great idea. It's free people, BUT, save it to your own server ... don't use mine! Thanks Sharon.

If you surf around a few blogs you'll find there are a lot of people not participating, but anyone who is interested will find all the details here... hurry! http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/olympics2006.html

Self Portrait Tuesday SPT

Self Portrait Tuesday ...

There are many blogs with fascinating crafts who participate in SPT. These artists work with fabric and thread, paper, paint, photography, and countless other mediums that I have not as yet discovered.

They are individually so talented and their creations unique, I find each style and personality fascinating. Each week they share another little corner of their world. I spend hours reading their blogs, admiring what they have done since their last post.

I cannot pretend to be anything like these artists, but in my own way I do create a fabric that is useful and sometimes beautiful. Not always my own ideas, occasionally designs of artists I consider clever within my particular craft.

With that in mind, I'm presently working from a pattern that I have not written, which is not only relaxing and enjoyable, definitely faster, especially when there are no delays in working out what the designer is trying to achieve. Quick, easy, garter stitch, knitted in one piece with only the side seams to complete. Size 0000 - new born - for a couple of little boys due sometime in the next 4 weeks.

Photos as soon as both are complete.

Trinket complete ...

The last of my gifted Trinkets is complete. Such a beautiful design. The little beads I found are so tiny and compliment the ruffle like delicate dew drops.

This one is knitted with Madil Kid Seta - I think the colour is Taupe. I used three full balls with nothing left over, so it is a little longer than the pattern recommends, but know it will be okay as the person who will be wearing this is tall and elegant.

I might have to knit up a couple of premmie cardigans as quick knits, as after using 3mm needles I require a quick fix on a larger size needle!
