Copyright ... does it exist?

Once again this subject has surfaced and I'm most annoyed that once again a business is using a product photo taken from my site and using it on their commerical site.

I have never written about this on my blog before, but I am so annoyed that retailers continually do this when they know it belongs to another business.

I write to them asking them politely, as I always do, to remove the photos. The emails I receive back are so absolutely rude and unnecessary it would surprise a lot who support the business and speak so highly of these people.

Perhaps these people also read my blog and if so, please, take the photo off your site and replace it with one you have taken. One you have toiled over for hours getting the product looking just right. One you are completely happy with because you have made the effort and taken the photo in your own time and then loaded it to your own site, again, in your own time.

Copyright ... it is really just good manners.

Ariann - the knitting is complete.

Finished and looks fabulous ... on my daughter.

Pattern : Chic-Knits - Ariann

Fibre : Ecoyarns cotton Pakucho 100% organic & fair trade naturally pigmented Peruvian cotton

Colour : Sage V010

Quantity : 11 x 50g balls

I don't mind, it truly looks fabulous on her ... I need to knit a larger size. I thought I'd get away with a snug fit - not a good look.

Now that Ariann is finished, I'll shop for buttons later this week and have daughter model the garment for a photo for the blog, as it does deserve to be photographed.

The Eco cotton is beautiful. I enjoyed knitting with it and love the stitch definition and drape for this knit. I have only steam blocked Ariann and happy with the result.

The Pirates have new sneekers!

The things we do to our children.
Darling Daughter bought the twins new sneekers and wasn't too sure how they would look on teeny tiny feet. With the cutting of new teeth, the t-shirt and baggy jeans, it's obvious DD and husband have an adventurous spirit. What is the Pirate wearing on his head ... I'm not going there! People, there are two of these!
As there is no show without punch, The Princess had to make an appearance too.
Knitting - yes it continues. Ariann is almost finished, just the collar to knit. It has been a long drawn out knit as the pattern is not clear in what a knitter is to do when decreasing or working the buttonholes. You have to figure decreasing and buttonholes out yourself.
I've frogged back to the armholes twice, as it just had to look right. I found one very lonely, brave sole on the internet who actually put into words what was happening with this pattern. I really did think I was misreading the instructions and was just plain stupid as no-one else had said anything. Not to worry, if I had had my wits about me, I would have been on top of the problem from the start, but being a very lazy knitter when I'm working from a purchased pattern, I failed. I have to be spoon fed.
Just in case you think I'm complaining, I'm not, the pattern is lovely, I'm completing it and will be wearing it. I am happy with the overall result.

Another Kim Hargreaves knit complete ...

So Much Yarn, So Little Time blog has just completed Air from Kim Hargreaves Calmer Collection.

It looks fabulous on her and convinces me to keep the remaining Calmer I have stashed away to eventually knit up.

This knit blogger (I do not know her name - can anyone help me out here?) produces gorgeous work and actually models her garments in photos, which is always appealing.

In my knitting news : I'm knitting the second sleeve for Ariann and anticipate joining the garment to knit the yoke tomorrow. Providing I stay focused, Ariann should be complete Thursday.

No, No, Noro!

I've been working on and off (mostly off!) this Noro sweater for my husband over the past three weeks and I have now arrived at a place where I do not want to be - the frog pond. He flew out to Europe today and I would have liked to have given him a handknit to keep him warm, but, this yarn had other ideas.

I'm tired of trying to match up the stripes so the sweater will look half decent. The body and sleeves to the underarm have been knitted in the round and I intended to join them to a yoke so as matching would not be a problem. My mind has gone blank and I do not want to finish it.

I think I am well and truly over Noro for adults. Perhaps if I'm feeling generous when this sweater is frogged, I'll knit up a couple of mini sweaters for the twins, but maybenot. For now, this item has been banned from my knitting space!

Bye, bye Noro.

The End. xx

Saturday friends...

I’ve had the busiest week with work, personal commitments and a surprise visit Saturday afternoon from a knitting friend, before heading out to dinner with family.

I took photos, but our nameless friend is not comfortable being splashed across the net just yet, so we’ll have to leave identities for another day. We’ll just call her Aelf.

Aelf brought with her a basket full of beautiful yarns – she’s knitting a skirt for her grand-daughter and needed a little inspiration to get started. Pink, once again, was the order of the day and with that oodles of pinks came tumbling from her basket. Plain, novelty and the softest delicately random dyed yarns, as well as a couple of fluffies. A fabulous loopy variegated mohair that knitted up so very fine. How beautiful is this skirt going to be? Hopefully Aelf will post it to her blog one day, so we’ll all enjoy the beauty of these yarns and the way in which they will be lovingly knit together.

We sat and talked about all manner of things and of course knitting dominated the conversation. Before too long the fun was over and it was time to go …

Aelf, will catch up soon and you’d better have that skirt complete. It’s going to be gorgeous!!!
