Friends ...

Every year we receive handmade cards from a very special friend.

There are three kids, just as drawn on the card, with both a Mummy and Daddy.

Mummy’s full-time career takes her away from home, but she and the children still find time, every Xmas and Easter, to make a card and fill the inside with personal, happy wishes for the recipient.

This year is no exception and I feel so lucky to have a friend like her.

She is a knitter, but does not have a lot of time to spend on her projects, but she does complete some.

I’m sure she would not mind if I share her 1-10 list from this very special xmas card –

How to make Christmas Cards in 2007

1. Plan to make them well in advance – say October 2007.
2. Book offsite meeting at
Eckersleys and get extra supplies of BLING and GLAM
(yes in addition to last year’s supplies).
3. Enlist the artistic talents of daughter and be the drawing hand of son’s
spiders’ and dialects.
4. Allow son to admire and point out which ones need extra embellishment.
5. Employ the just in time quality method, allowing enough dust to collect on
the ready cards.
6. Thank god that the only thing left to do, 3 days before posting finishes is
type out the how to.
7. Smile at the knowing look from your husband as he clears a small opening
near the printer to print the envelopes.
8. Collect the envelopes from received cards and place them at the top of the list.
9. Plan your coming day around getting to the post office to stamp and dispatch.
10. Think of a way next year to be able to play the piano, knit and type at the same time!

Love is essential, Humour is more important, Friends and Family are the best.

I am so blessed.

Merry Christmas everyone xx

Debbie Bliss Cathay

Debbie Bliss Cathay

Does anyone have a used Debbie Bliss Cathay book they would like to sell?

There are a couple of patterns I’d like to knit for The Princess, as I’ve fallen in love with the Cathay yarn.

Look forward to hearing from someone! mmm jhm AT ozemail DOT com DOT au

Craftoholic has recently completed the deep-v sweater from Erika Knight Collectables classic book and it’s simply gorgeous, or simply looks gorgeous on her. I desire a sweater like this, simple, understated, looks great with jeans. What more would one want to wear when running around after three little people? Every mummy knows cream is the best colour to wear around little people … right!

… and just to cram a little sewing in before xmas – I ordered the Last Minute Patchwork + Quilted Gifts book by Joelle Hoverson to make peanut, the wee elephant by Hillary Lang of weewonderfuls. I’m also making her pointy kitty – take a look at the kitty gallery … meow meow. All for the little people in my life that give me so much joy.

Of course I ordered my books from
The Book Depository, who are just fabulous. Had a problem with one of the books ordered a month ago and sent them an email. Customer service attended to the problem immediately and I received a replacement book the following week. Who’s a happy customer!

Knitting, yes I’m knitting, using some Jo Sharp, soho cotton, colour Cloudless, but that will have to wait until the next post. I’d better get going and do a little sewing.

Update on DB Cathay book : have the book - thanks everyone.

Birthday #4!

The table's been set.

The cake's been baked.

Twin #1 on the BIG slide. (Believe me, he's laughing!)

The Birthday Princess on the big slide.

Group photo (where's the rest of the crew?)

The group photo was impossible! There was no way we could get all the kids back into the party room once they were let loose to play.

The kids were running wild at
Lollipops … what a fantastic place to have a party. I want to have my birthday party at Lollipops!

Three hours … you’d think it wouldn’t be long enough for everyone to enjoy themselves. Any mum who has been to a party at a centre like Lollipops will know – I don’t have to tell you I’m sure – three hours is plenty!

Forget the toddler ball pit and baby slides for the twins (21 months), they were onto the super slide .. no holding them back. We had to drag them away as the big kids were piling down the slide 3 and 4 at a time. This place was getting dangerous, but only for the adults. Everyone was having loads of fun.

It’s over ‘till February, when the twins turn 2. Mummy is considering holding their party there too. We thought they’d be too young … we are definitely wrong.

No frantic preparation, no cleaning up afterward, everything is provided … now that’s a party!
